A mammogram is an X-ray examination of the breasts utilized to detect and diagnose breast diseases. MAMMOGRAM PROCEDURE

The procedure involves flattening the breasts between two plates to facilitate imaging.

It is conducted as either a screening mammogram (for women without breast symptoms) or a diagnostic mammogram (for women with breast symptoms). Women aged 40 and older are advise to undergo annual screening mammograms. Diagnostic mammograms are recommend for women experiencing breast symptoms such as a lump, pain, nipple discharge, or changes in breast size or shape.

Specially trained radiologists typically perform the screening using mammography machines.

Before the procedure, you will be Provide with a gown to wear and instructed to remove any jewelry or metal items that could block the X-ray images.

During the Procedure, you will stand before the mammography machine and place your breast on the X-ray plate. The technologist will lower the X-ray plate and delicately compress your breast between the plate and another surface. Although this may cause some discomfort, it is crucial to remain motionless to ensure the capture of clear images.
